Please note: The visitor pass request below does not apply to visits to Smith College for the areas open to the public (Lyman Plant House, Museum of Art, Mendenhall Theatre, Neilson Library). Visitors to these areas are instead welcome to utilize designated visitor parking spaces around campus, park in the blue-lined visitor spaces in the parking garage at 50 West St., or seek City of Northampton parking options. For visits that do require a temporary pass, please be aware that submitting a request does not guarantee approval. To accommodate the college’s daily operational needs—such as major campus events or ongoing construction—we reserve the right to limit the number of visitor passes issued at any given time. Because parking availability changes rapidly, approved passes are issued at the discretion of the parking office and may not be for a location in the immediate vicinity of the building you are visiting.

Blue-lined visitor spaces have a two-hour limit and are reserved for bona fide visitors to the college.

During standard college operational hours (Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.), visitors are encouraged to utilize public parking on city streets. If you need to park on campus for official college business, please use the form to apply for your pass. For personal visit requests during daytime hours, the hosting student may apply for a parking pass for their guests. The parking office does not issue long-term parking passes. If approved, the pass must be displayed so it can easily be seen from the front of your vehicle. The parking office may reject any parking pass at any time, and parking requests for vehicles with a history of parking offenses, or outstanding citations, will not be granted. If issued, the pass must be displayed so it can easily be seen from the front of your vehicle.

Outside of daytime business hours: Visitors may park without a pass in any non-reserved, white-lined space on campus or within the parking garage, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Thursday, and anytime from 5 p.m. on Friday until 7 a.m. on Monday. Parking is strictly prohibited in the Quad between the hours of 1–6 a.m.

You can find all available parking locations on our interactive campus map.

Contractors: You may request your parking pass from the Campus Safety Parking Office, located at 126 West Street, 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please allow at least two business days to process your request. Requests submitted without enough notice may not be processed and parking without a pass during business hours could result in citations or fines. Requests will not be processed on weekends, holidays, or when the college is closed.
