Wellness Services is responsible for health promotion initiatives for the college. We work to respond to the needs of students; this might look like addressing longstanding challenges like stress management, or more emergent needs like responding to an outbreak. Our department includes the director of wellness; a first year social work intern; and the community health organizers (CHOs), a group of about 15 students. Peer-driven health outreach is an evidence-supported practice; thus, CHOs take a major role in designing and leading wellness workshops on a variety of topics, like sexual well-being, alcohol and drug harm reduction, stress management, mental health, healthy relationships to food and body image, health relationships, and more. You will see CHOs around campus in a variety of settings, like tabling in the campus center, featured in the SMART video, going to house teas, and leading campuswide workshops.
