When the Smith community experiences or witnesses an emergency on Smith campus, they should contact Campus Safety immediately at 413-585-5555.

Emergencies may impact the health and safety of the campus community, including staff, students, faculty, and visitors on campus throughout the emergency. Emergencies may also impact the college’s business operations by causing damage to college grounds, property, or equipment, or limiting the college’s ability to provide essential services to its community.

Smith College utilizes best-practice frameworks and guidelines for emergency management, including implementing an Incident Management Team (IMT), made up of various college leadership, to help guide the college through emergency operations. The IMT, when assembled, will communicate with the college community and college’s local, state, and Five College partners to help lead response, mitigation, and recovery efforts throughout the emergency that is impacting Smith College.

During emergency operations, the college will communicate through predetermined methods, such as email and through RAVE mass notification alerts.

During an emergency, follow the direction of Campus Safety and the Incident Management Team. It is your responsibility to keep yourself safe.
