Hannah Schmidt
Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer

As an analytical chemist, Hannah Schmidt uses chemistry to design new tools for studying complex systems. During her Ph.D. work at the University of Arizona, she designed electrochemical and electrophysiological sensors to measure hormone and neurotransmitter signaling involved in disorders such as diabetes and hyperparathyroidism. Currently, she is a postdoc in Professor Kate Queeney's lab, where she characterizes how polymer thin films change the properties of silicon surfaces. She has taught general chemistry and advanced laboratory courses at The University of Arizona and at Smith, and she loves helping students build the confidence to solve problems and answer difficult research questions.
